Day of Hope Events In April, 2010 Friends of Hope International held one of its "Day of Hope" events with 200 children in the Dominican Republic. This event was held in Gualey, an impoverished community located in the outskirts of Santo Domingo. Working with one of its in-country partners, Luces en Camino, FOHI was able to provide a day of fun and excitement, as well as provide breakfast and lunch for the children, school materials and a movie.
Water Projects In Central America, most communities refer to water as the “precious liquid”. That’s because a lot of communities are still without access to clean, sanitary and safe water. With your help, Friends of Hope International is able to provide communities with water wells that will enable them to have access to clean water and avoid water-borne diseases that cause sicknesses such as malaria and diarrhea especially among children and the elderly.
Women of Hope
In most developing countries, women serve as the backbone of the family structure. In most cases, it is a single mother that is tasked with the responsibility of caring for an extended family. Through our Women of Hope projects, Friends of Hope International seeks to develop self-sustainable projects and programs that would empower these women to learn a craft or trade that would allow them to become self-sustainable. Projects include: animal husbandry, aquaculture, baking, sewing and arts and crafts.
