Protein is an important component of a child’s daily diet. Through our animal husbandry projects, we are able to afford communities a more balanced diet, while simultaneously providing them with a project that can be self-sustainable. Our projects include: chickens, pigs and goats. We have dedicated experts in the field who voluntarily assist us in bringing these projects to fruition.

It is not uncommon in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa for a farmer to abandon his field and move to the city hoping to find employment. Our mission is to provide farmers self-sustainable agriculture projects that would allow them to earn income while staying close to their families. These projects allow them to provide for their families, while giving them the tools to grow and sell their products to the community at large.

Possibly one of the most important means of providing protein to impoverished communities, aquaculture has taken the forefront in the fight against hunger. Instead of giving the fish or even teaching someone to fish, aquaculture allows communities to developing their own fishing ponds without ever going near the ocean! Our aquaculture projects include: tilapia, pangasius, shrimp, carp and other species. We have aquaculture experts from various countries involved in the development of these projects. Together, they have completed more than 50 aquaculture projects.

Your sponsorship of $25.00 dollars a month allows us the opportunity to provide food, clothing and school supplies to children in impoverished communities in the countries we serve. A photo of the child is provided, as well as the opportunity to send letters and visit your child.

It’s inconceivable that thousands of children still die every year related to water-borne diseases but that is a sad reality. You have the opportunity to change this by donating to our water fund or to a specific water project. Our projects include small but desperately needed artesian wells; aqueducts that can provide safe, sanitary water to an entire community; cisterns that can attend to the needs of orphanages or schools and latrines that can help give dignity to impoverished families.

Women are the backbone of the family in developing nations. In most cases, it is single mothers who are running their households. This makes it difficult to both earn a living and care for the children. Through its program, FOHI seeks to fund self-sustainable projects that will assist women in the community and enable them to generate income for them and their families. Women’s projects include agriculture, aquaculture, animal husbandry, sewing, crafts and others.
